New Work

Exploring my tactile sense, as satisfying as having my hands in the dirt

Tactile expressions

Size, shape, weight, placement and the tactile become a language of emotion and experience. It is not a land of logic; but an environment of intuition. (Please enlarge for best viewing. Message me for sales inquiries)

Working with newspaper 2020-2023

I work on chosen newspaper articles to help me take in the sadness of what's happening in our world; and send back a breath out. (Enlarge for best viewing; and message me for sales inquiries)

Pandemic Drawings

The task here was to get out of my own way, trust my hand without censoring. I limited myself to using Red, White and Black. The drawings felt like complex emotions taking a temporary form.

archives: Finding Center

Each piece began with a 6x6 inch piece of wood. I carved deeply into the center of the wood. The veiled center is meant to draw you in close. We see the outer appearance of things, but what lies inside?

"This Human being is a guest house every morning a new arrival A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows who violently sweep your house empty of all it's furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. This being a human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meaness,

some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house

empty of it's furniture,

still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,

meet them at the door laughing,

and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,

because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.
